ISLAMIC, 'Abbasid Caliphate. Uncertain period, temp. al-Saffah to al-Amin. AH 132-199 = AD 749-813. Fals (Bronze, 17 mm, 2.91 g), citing 'Abd Allah b. Salih and his appointee 'Abd al-Karim, Khunasir, circa AH 170 = AD 786/7. Album A290. A very rare mint. Minor deposits and with minor areas of weakness, otherwise, very fine.

The mint in Khunasir operated only for a very brief period of time. Perhaps it was felt that there was no real need for a mint so close to the important city of Hims.
